The chair of Peter

From Leo XIV back to the fisherman

267 names, in the order the Holy See’s table of pontiffs uses. The rail opens on Leo XIV, on the right. Scroll left — through every century — until you reach St. Peter. Wheel the mouse, swipe, or use the arrows. Century buttons jump.

The Holy See does not officially number the popes. This listing follows the common chronology, as the Vatican’s own table of pontiffs does. Benedict IX sat three times, so his name appears three times. Portraits are real photographs or paintings where we have them. The rest are numbered medallions — no invented faces.
