Wrote Rerum novarum. In 1884 he extended the Leonine Prayers after Low Mass to the whole Church; in 1886 he added the Prayer to Saint Michael. Catholics also tell of a vision in which he heard God and the devil. The prayer is his. The famous dialogue is a later story, and this encyclopedia says so on its own page.
