In this chair
Pope Bl. Innocent the Eleventh is listed as the 240th Bishop of Rome in the common chronology of the popes, from 1676 – 1689. The Holy See does not officially number the pontiffs. What is sure is the succession: this man sat in the chair that begins with Peter.
