The reading
How it began
On 12 April 1947 Bruno is in the eucalyptus grove where St. Paul is said to have been beheaded. His children are in a cave, calling “beautiful lady.” He cannot move. A woman in a green mantle over white calls him to the Catholic faith he had hated, to the wounds of her Son, to conversion. He goes to a priest that day.
The day itself
Pius XII is informed. The grotto becomes a place of prayer. The Vicariate of Rome has allowed the cult of Our Lady of Revelation without a full supernatural declaration of the old type. Popes have sent flowers. Bruno lived as a convert until 2001.

How to read Our Lady of Revelation
The convert is the miracle. Mary meets a man who had gone to the grove to unmake her, which is a kind of humour the Gospel already knew on the Damascus road.

Our Lady of Revelation (1947, Tre Fontane, Rome). Grade in this encyclopedia: Locally approved. A Protestant, anti-Catholic tram driver, Bruno Cornacchiola, takes his children to a grove to prepare a speech against Mary. She comes. He converts. The grotto at the Three Fountains is a Roman pilgrimage with papal visits and a cautious local reception.
