Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

St. Michael the Archangel — appearances, prayers, the whole page
Where it comes from
Pope Leo XIII, 1886. He ordered it said after Low Mass. A vision of God and the devil is often given as the cause; the prayer is certain, and that dialogue is not. Pope John Paul II asked the Church to keep saying it.
