The reading
How it began
Gladys, with little education, begins in 1983 to see Mary and, later, Jesus. She is given a bronze statue of Our Lady of the Rosary that had been in the cathedral’s belfry. Messages — unusually numerous — urge the Gospel and the rosary and warn in the familiar twentieth-century register. A great shrine is built on the Paraná. Pilgrims come in the hundreds of thousands.
The day itself
In 2016 Bishop Héctor Cardelli, after years of study, declares that the apparitions are supernatural and worthy of belief. Gladys is still living a withdrawn life.

How to read Our Lady of the Rosary of San Nicolás
San Nicolás is a reminder that approval did not stop in 1933 with Banneux. The modern Church can still say yes, slowly, to a housewife and a rosary. The volume of messages is the usual worry; the bishop judged the fruit and the doctrine sufficient.
